Sportsman's Showcase
The CCA Louisiana/Mercury Outboards STAR Tournament begins this Saturday, May 23, and lasts through Monday, September 7, and there will be plenty prizes up for grabs. The 15th Statewide Tournament and Anglers’ Rodeo (STAR) is sure to see plenty of action as 50 redfish have been tagged and released across the coast in the past few days.
One of the largest, and richest saltwater fishing tournaments in the country, STAR spans the entire Louisiana Gulf Coast and is open to anglers of every age. Boasting 107 days of competition, the tournament runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2009.
The biggest news for 2009 is KIDS FISH FREE! All kids 17 and under must register for STAR in order to participate. As long as their CCA membership is current, their entry into the tournament is free.
For the third straight year, the first 2009 STAR-registered angler to land a tagged redfish wins a brand new Chevy Silverado pickup truck worth approximately $30,000. This year, the second tagged redfish will claim a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
